She has a Degree in Political Science and Sociology (University of Deusto), won the Second National Award for Completion of Studies (Ministry of Education and Science), got a Master in Social Sciences (Centre for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences of the Juan March Institute for Studies and Research) and got her Doctorate in Political Science and Sociology from the University of the Basque Country. She is currently Associate Professor attached to the Department of Sociology 2 of the UPV / EHU, where she combines teaching, research and management tasks. She is currently an INNOKlab rearch group member.

She has participated in various research projects on collective identity, its process of institutionalization and generational transformation, funded by the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government and in many other projects on strategies of mobility, return and transnational practices among the Romanian gipsy population and on prevention and overcoming of gender violence in the gipsy people, all of them financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. She is the author of articles, books, book chapters and contributions in national and international congresses and her current lines of work and research focus on qualitative social research (epistemological and ethical perspective), transnational migratory processes and institutional production of social suffering and vulnerability.
