Ainara Gredilla Altonaga

Associate professor

PhD Chemistry (UPV/EHU)
Faculty of Science & Technology

Bachelor’s in Chemistry (2007) and PhD Europeus Cum Laude (2011) by the UPV/EHU. She is currently working as associate professor at the Analytical Chemistry department of the University of the Basque Country.

Her research has focused on the monitoring and analysis of environmental samples. She has primarily analysed water, soil and sediment samples from aquatic (including rivers, lakes and estuaries), industrial and urban areas. For the analysis of samples, she has used traditional analytical techniques (extraction and separation and quantification techniques), spectroscopic information (vibrational and elemental) and chemometric models.

She has done two stays. The first stay was at the University of Valencia (2008) where she worked in the optimization of analytical methods based of chemometric techniques combined with vibrational spectroscopy. The second stay (2009) was at the Department of Quality, Technology and Food Chemistry from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) where she studied the application of 2D and 3D multivariate approaches for environmental analysis.

She has published 40 papers in high-impact journals and 4 book chapters. She has also presented 57 communications to conferences and has participated in 15 research projects. Currently, her h-index is 17.
