Irantzu Martinez Arkarazo is member of IBeA research group (Excellence research group, G.V. 2022-2025). She got her PhD about ionic exchange resin technology in 2007. Her PhD thesis got the European mention due to a 3 month stay at the Muséum National D’histoire Naturelle of Paris (France). Her teaching work started at the same year she finished the PhD, firstly as an interim labor professor, to become an adjunct professor after one year and finally, to occupy the current position of Assistant Professor[JA1]  in the Department of Analytical Chemistry (2012), which includes the academic secretary since 2019. She has participated in more than 30 research projects obtained from competitive calls and has supervised 4 PhD thesis with international mention (one of them getting the extraordinary award). They were focused on beachrock formation in the Biscay coast and the preservation of stone material in the field of built heritage, beginning with its diagnosis and continuing with the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly cleaning, consolidation and protection methods (the latter being the subject of the thesis that she is currently co-directing). She has authored more than 60 publications and has presented more than 150 communications at international conferences.
