Personal profile: Born in Galdakao (Bizkaia, 1951). Professor of Chemical Engineering (1988). Student of the first graduation in Chemical Sciences (branch of Industrial Chemistry). Teaching profile: Teacher since 1974 in Degree, Master and Doctorate courses in the training curricula of Chemical Sciences and Chemical Engineering. Research profile: Coordinator of the research team Catalytic Processes for Waste Valorisation (CPWV), participation in more 130 competitive research projects (40 as leader) financed by the University of the Basque Country, Basque Government, Several Spanish Ministries, European Union and Companies (Eastman, Total Petrochemical, Air Liquide, Johnson Matthey and so on). He is involved in the Development of Thermal and Catalytic Processes of Interest from a Perspective of Energy and Environment, within the framework of the Bio-refinery and Waste Refinery. He has published over 430 papers in indexed journals, with his h index being 54 (Thomson Reuters) and having received 11.000 citations. He has been supervisor of 40 Doctoral Theses (9 with Special Prize) and 80 Master Theses and Degree Final Projects, and is the owner of 7 patents. He got the 2106 National Award in Chemical Engineering (Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry). Academic and I+D+i management positions: Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering (1990-1993, 2000-2003); Vice-rector for Academic Planning and Teaching Staff at the University of the Basque Country (1986-1990); Secretary and President of CNEAI Committees (1993-1996); Coordinator for Chemical Technology at ANEP (2003-2005); Member for Engineering and Technology in the Advisory Board at the Spanish State Secretariat for Research and Universities (2005-2010).
