3. STUDENT: FACULTY ENROLLMENT

Procedures in the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing

Important: Before filling in your application, please consult "General information about the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing (syllabuses and subjects)"
Note: The Degree ending projects (TFG) must be done at the University of origin.

1. Nomination of students to the UPV/EHU

No application will be accepted from students who have not been previously nominated by their institution (Erasmus / Latin America and Other Destinations / SICUE student nomination).

We only have a single nomination period for mobilities that will take place from September 24 to June 25, regardless of the semester in which the mobility takes place. The deadlines are as follows :

  • ERASMUS: From February 1st to May 31st
  • LATIN AMERICA AND OTHER DESTINATIONS: From February 1st to April 30th
  • SICUE: From February 1st to May 31st

Students will not be admitted in June, July and August (non lective).

Priority period for clinical placements in the 6th year of Medicine: September to December. Placements outside these dates will be assessed but there is no guarantee that places will be available.

2. Enrollment in the School of Medicine and Nursing

After receiving the nomination from the university of origin (see previous point) and once the mobility application has been accepted by the UPV/EHU (an e-mail will be sent with the acceptance by the institution), students must fill in the registration form for the corresponding degree:

Placements will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Nursing and Physical Therapy internships will be assigned based on grade order.

3. Acceptance by the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing and student registration on the GAUR platform

After the student registers at the Faculty, he/she will receive an email with the instructions to fill in his/her information in our student management programme: GAUR.

The following documentation must be uploaded to this platform:

  • 1 passport photo
  • Learning Agreement for Studies (admission form in the case of AL+OD students) signed by the coordinator of the home university.
In order to draft the Learning Agreement correctly, students should consult the study plans, as it should be as close as possible to what they definitely will to study at the UPV/EHU (only minor modifications will be allowed at the beginning of each term).
  • A copy of your passport or identity document
  • A copy of your medical insurance
This must include repatriation and Civil Liability clauses that cover all academic activities (minimum coverage of 50.000 €).
(We recommend taking out the insurance that the UPV/EHU offers to international students: IBILI-EHU)

4. Documents to be sent by email to secretaria-fme.internacional@ehu.eus before your arrival at the UPV/EHU

Before starting your mobility you have to send us the following information by e-mail to secretaria-fme.internacional@ehu.eus:
  • A certificate attesting to the absence of past crimes and offences of a sexual nature
  • A copy of your registration at your home university.
  • Exclusively for students who are going to do nursing internships: hepatitis B vaccination certificate.
  • Exclusively for students who come to do “Practicum” in Nursing and “Practicum” in Physiotherapy:
    • Internships will be awarded based on grade order. For this, it is necessary that you send us the academic record indicating your average grade from the previous year. If we do not receive this document before the allocation of internships, whatever remains last will be awarded.
    • The Royal Decree-Law 2/2023 of March 16th, establishes the obligation for the University to contribute to social security for certain student internships. For this mandatory procedure, it is necessary to provide the following documents/data:
      • Foreign students:
        • Erasmus: you will have to apply for the NIE: We recommend to apply for the NIE before your arrival at the Consulate (see more information). It will be enough to send us the application form processed at the immigration office.
        • Students from Latin America + other destinations: If you have applied for a student visa, the NIE is automatically processed together with the visa, so you will not need to send us anything.
      • All students doing Practicum in Nursing or Physiotherapy: Current Bank account number. Instead of sending it by mail, please fill it in this form.

5. Uniforms and equipment required for internships

Students who carry out their mobility at the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing, in any of the four degrees (Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Dentistry), and who need to undertake internships during their stay, must bring the necessary uniform and equipment.
