Zeynep Arslan Çalık researcher

Researcher on Ottoman-European interactions in the Mediterranean, with particular focus on Habsburg-Ottoman relations.

Zeynep Arslan-Çalık completed her doctorate at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany as a DAAD scholar. She holds a master’s degree from Istanbul Bilgi University and a bachelor’s degree in History from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.

Her research examines the demographic, socio-economic, and political dynamics of Ottoman–European interactions in the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on Habsburg–Ottoman relations.

Arslan-Çalık is also active in the field of Digital Humanities. She worked as an AI Humanities Expert at an AI company for nearly three years, applying her academic background to innovative projects in artificial intelligence and related fields. She currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Social History Valentín de Foronda, University of the Basque Country.
