Seminar Title: “Extracellular vesicles and Nanoparticles: dangerous liaisons”

María Sancho Albero holds a degree in Biotechnology and a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Throughout her research career, she has specialized in the field of nanomedicine. In 2020, she defended her PhD thesis at the University of Zaragoza (Extraordinary Doctoral Award). Subsequently, from 2021 to 2023, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research (Milan, Italy. In 2023, she was awarded an AECC Postdoctoral Talent Grant and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie MSCA Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship, which allowed her to return to the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA) at University of Zaragoza to continue her research career. She has been distinguished with several awards and recognitions (for example, the Third Millennium Prize from the Heraldo newspaper and the distinction of her doctoral thesis as one of the 10 best doctoral theses by the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain). In 2025, she received a Ramón y Cajal Grant and is the principal investigator of a prestigious ERC Starting Grant awarded in 2025. Her research focuses on developing multidisciplinary strategies to combine advances in nanotechnology and progress in advanced therapies in the area of extracellular vesicles, with the aim of further developing selective strategies for the treatment of target tumor cells.
