This project, funded by the University of Zaragoza, is funded by the Grants and Subsidies for University Cooperation Projects for the Development of the Vice-Rectorate for Students, Employment and Social Responsibility of the UPV/EHU (2015). The aim is to create, develop and promote an International, Interuniversity and Interinstitutional On Biomimesis (RI3BIOMIMICRY) in the city of Leticia, located on the triple border between Brazil, Colombia and Peru. The purpose is to generate lines of research on Biomimesis to increase the capacities and opportunities of Sustainable Human Development in the Amazon region. Also, generate the initial conditions for the development of a knowledge society with the promotion of sustainable lines of innovation in the South American continental Amazon. In its first phase, the executing counterpart of this project will be the National Open and Distance University (UNAD) (Colombia) through a School of Agricultural, Livestock and Environmental Sciences (ECAPMA). At the same time, the RI3BIOMIMICRY network will be directly linked to the Association of Amazonian Universities (UNAMAZ) – which houses 69 American universities – and to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) Science, Technology and Education Area. Through this network (RI3BIOMIMICRY) the UVP/EHU will have the opportunity to generate synergies in this area of knowledge with other universities, research institutes and institutions of Amazonian and Latin American countries.
