PARTICIPATION IN E-LIFEFONG LEARNING WEBINAR
On August 12th, we took part in the webinar on E-Lifelong Learning for Youth in Bunaken-Tangkoko-Minahasa Biosphere Reserve proposal during COVID-19 Pandemic, organised by Sam Ratulangi University UNSRAT (Manado, Indonesia) with the support of UNESCO.
The webinar is part of a project promoting online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and drawing on the Bunaken-Tangkoko- Minahasa Biosphere Reserve. The project contributes to SDG 4 of the 2030 Agenda (‘Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’) by teaching university students from the area near the reserve about the importance of conserving nature and of promoting sustainable development to realise the reserve vision and get others involved.
María Viota took park on behalf of the Chair and in scientific collaboration with UNSRAT. She presented and explained the ecosystem services conceptual framework used in the Ecosystem Services in the Basque Country project. The presentation contextualised the importance of creating a practical community which engages young people, given their key role in civil society. Experiences were also shared to facilitate an examination of the youth perception of ecosystems and the services they provide in the Bunaken-Tangkoko-Minahasa Biosphere Reserve.
