RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am particularly interested in how language is processed by human brain and more specifically, how bilingual speakers deal with linguistic structures specific to their first (L1) and second (L2) language. To date my investigation has been focused on Basque, an isolate, pre-Indo-European language spoken in the Basque Country (North-Central Spain and the adjoining region of South-Western France). So far I have explored such linguistic phenomena as object-verb agreement and ergativity from the neurophysiological perspective (using Event-Related Brain Potentials).  (click here for the full version of the CV in pdf format).
