Welcome to the project kick-off Workshop
This one-day project kick-off workshop marks the start of the FEEL research project funded by the Spanish Government (PID2024-156359NB-I00) and focused on the relationship between emotions and language learning and processing. The workshop will bring together invited researchers and collaborators that will present their most recent findings on topics related to language and emotion. We will also present discuss and plan the initial phase of our current and future work. The workshop will be open to any researcher interested in these topics and will have a poster session for those that want to present their own work.
About the Project
The project will investigate how emotional information—from both words and facial expressions—affects the way people process and learn their native and non-native languages, with a focus on Basque-Spanish bilinguals. The project will also create an Emotional Word Database for Basque, a research tool necessary to achieve the main aims of the current project and future projects that aim to investigate the interplay between emotion and language in Basque.
We are pleased to announce that the first Workshop on Facial and Emotional Effects on Language will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz (University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU) on February 12, 2026.
The workshop will bring together scientists studying the interplay between language and emotion from different perspectives, and it represents an opportunity to discuss recent scientific findings, exchange knowledge, and stimulate new ideas.
Invited speakers:
- José Antonio Hinojosa (Universidad Complutense de Madrid)
- Lucía Vieitez (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela)
- Anna Hatzidaki (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens)
- Eduardo Navarrete (Università di Padova)
