Associate Professor and Researcher in the Department of Basque Language and Communication. I graduated in English Philology from the University of Deusto (1996). I obtained a predoctoral grant from the Basque Government, thanks to which I was able to complete my master’s and doctorate in the USA: Master’s Degree in Computational Linguistics (1998) and PhD in Linguistics, both from the University of Maryland (2004). In 2004 I joined the UPV/EHU with a postdoctoral fellowship, and since then I have been a professor and researcher in the Basque Language and Communication Department. I have been an Associate Professor since 2011. My field of research has been syntax within the framework of theoretical linguistics and specifically, subordination and nominal structures. In recent years, I have worked on the standardization of Basque and in particular on health terminology. Since bilingualism is a characteristic of our community, I am particularly interested in analyzing the characteristics of bilingualism in the mental representations and cognitive processes of the speakers.
