José M. M. Senovilla got his Physics degree (1982) and his Ph D (1986) from Salamanca University. He was a `Fleming' British Council postdoc in Queen Mary College (London, 1987-1989) and became Reader in Physics at the University of Barcelona in 1990. He is full professor since 1999 working at the Physics Department of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
He does research in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, mainly in Gravitation, General Relativity, and Cosmology, and is Head (P.I.) of the Basque Government research group `Gravitation and Cosmology' (IT956-16, quality A-group in the basque system), with about 20 researchers. He has supervised 8 Ph D thesis and is supervising one more. He has been invited researcher and lecturer in several institutions around the world. He received the Prizes `City of Barcelona for Science and Technology' in 1991 and `Eduard Fontseré' of the Institute of Catalan Studies in 1998.
He is author of more than 130 papers, acted as external referee of several international science agencies and keeps an intense activity of public talks. He was Editorial Board Member of Classical and Quantum Gravity (IOP, London) in the period 2005-2014, and is still a member of its advisory committee. He was the first ever elected member of the Committee of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation representing Spain, for the period 2001-2010.
