Biography

She conducted her studies in Industrial Technical Engineer, speciality in Industrial Chemistry, in Polytechnic School in San Sebastian (2008). Then, she worked as a researcher within the Group of Biorefinery Process where she obtained the Master in Renewable Materials Engineering in Polytechnic School in San Sebastian (2010). Finally, she obtained the mention of International Doctor Cum Laude in Renewable Materials Engineering under the direction of Professor Jalel Labidi and Co-direction of Dr. Arantxa Eceiza though a predoctoral fellowship obtained from Researcher Training of the Basque Government (2013). She made her stays in the University of Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Institute of Oenology and Agro-Food Engineering, Italy) and Chalmers University of Technology (Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Biopolymer Technology, Sweden).

Research

Her investigation was focused on the use of lignocellulosic materials (from wood and agricultural residues). The main goal of her work was the extraction of hemicelluloses with and without lignin to produce biofuels, chemicals and new polymeric materials. The hemicellulose was used to produce bioetanol and xylitol, and to produce polymeric films with and without lignin. Nowadays, her research is based on the extraction of hemicellulose and lignin to produce new materials from renewable resources.

The work performed during her investigation, resulted in 28 publications (where 8 of them were as first author). Moreover, the obtained results have been presented in various national and international conferences.
