Biography

Mateus Berwaldt Santos is teacher since 2012 in the Building course at the Federal Institute Sul-rio-grandense (IFSul), in the city of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He teaches in the areas of Strength of Materials, Structures and Construction Practices. He graduated in Civil Engineering (2012) and Master in Ocean Engineering (2015) from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). His dissertation focused on the design of prestressed concrete pavement for high loads. Currently, he is doing a doctorate in cotutela at the University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) in Renewable Materials Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Jalel Labidi and at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) in Science and Materials Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Darci Gatto. His thesis aims to use renewable resources for the treatment of wood, in order to improve its mechanical properties and durability. Participates in the research groups BioRefinery Process - BioRP (UPV / EHU) and Science of Wood (UFPel).
