In 2015 he was awarded the ICS Medal of the international Commission on Stratigraphy for his scientific contributions. He is a member of four international scientific committees and he was appointed secretary of the International Subocommission on Paleogene Stratigraphy for 2016-2020. He has participated in four project proposal assessment committees.
