The University of Zaragoza organises the Academic English course ("Academic English") as part of the cross-training. The interuniversity doctoral students belonging to other universities will have access to it.
Skills for the dissemination and communication of Research in English Courses generally aim to provide doctoral students with basic tools and academic communication skills in English in the research context. Its specific objectives are: -To analyse models of specialised texts (research papers, articles, abstracts, reviews, Doctoral Thesis, application for grants, academic communication / correspondence, presentation of lectures, presentation of doctoral theses, etc.) and to identify the characteristics of the texts. -To provide and develop language strategies to improve written and oral communication in English in a research context. -To provide and develop strategies for understanding specialised texts in English. -To analyse critically own written and oral construction processes for transmitting specific contents of each area of knowledge in order to improve individually as regards the production of specialised texts in English.
This activity will be assessed through the performance of a task involving the dissemination of research in English. Registration in the PhD Activities Document

The University of Zaragoza organises the course "Information Skills for doctoral students" as part of the cross-training. The interuniversity doctoral students belonging to other universities will have access to it. The contents are those of the advanced level of information skills: general databases (multidisciplinary, patents, standards, legislation) and specialised by macro-field; impact factor and citation indices; bibliographic managers; scientific publication (where to publish, copyrights, Creative Commons licenses, etc.)
This course aims at offering doctoral students additional training to their research activity in the field of information skills and competencies: -Searching and retrieving information -Knowing and using sources of information -Assessing and evaluating information -Managing information -Communicating and disseminating information
This activity will be assessed by developing a detailed bibliography on a topic related to their doctoral thesis. Registration in the PhD Activities Document

Performing a stay of at least 8 weeks in a foreign centre during the second year of the doctoral thesis will be recommended. Stays will take place at any of the numerous Research centres with which the participating groups collaborate scientifically, or at Internationally renowned centres.

Research groups will conduct Research Seminars in which doctoral candidates will talk about developments in their research and discuss how it is going. The researchers in the group will also give talks on their research, or on the themes of their current research.
This activity will be assessed through the submission of summaries on the seminars they have attended. Each doctoral candidate must also give at least one talk at one of the seminars. Recorded in the Doctorate Activities Document

The University of Zaragoza organises the course "Scientific commitment and professional responsibility of Researchers" as part of the cross-training. The interuniversity doctoral students belonging to other universities will have access to it. The seminar is conceived as a series of lectures on the relationship between scientific knowledge and the responsibility of the researcher.

Research groups will organise seminars taking advantage the visits made by external researchers. Each university participating in the PhD will send information of such seminars to the other universities encouraging the participation of students who have an interest. Seminars taught by professors from other participating universities will also be organised.
