Ph.D. in Telecommunication Engineering. In 1996 he joined the University of the Basque Country, where he is currently Full Professor with the Department of Communications Engineering.
Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Information Technology in the University of Turku, Finland (2008), and visiting professor at the Department of Computer and Information Science in the University of Konstanz, Germany (2017).
Coordinator of the PhD Program (National Interuniversity) in Mobile Network Information and Communication Technologies (2009-2021).
He has been involved in more than 70 research and technology transfer projects on broadcasting and wireless systems (PI in 18). He has supervised 7 PhD dissertations and has coauthored more than 120 papers in major journals and conferences, as well as three book chapters on digital television.
His research interests are related to new broadcasting technologies and wireless communications systems, in the areas of software defined radio developments, system testing, and data analytics for non-intrusive wireless detection of human activity.
