Cristina Miguélez is Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the UPV / EHU and part of the Neuropharmacology research group. She finished her PhD in 2008 and completed a two-year postdoc at the University of Bordeaux, where she was also a visiting professor for the following three years. She has also worked in different laboratories in Spain and Sweden. One of the main objectives of her research is to understand the contribution of monoaminergic systems to the development of non-motor complications in Parkinson's disease and the search for biomarkers in the disease. To this end, she uses in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiological techniques, animal modeling, behavioral assessment and molecular assays. She has obtained funding as principal investigator in different competitive calls and has also participated in other projects. Since 2021, she co-directs a Cross-Border Laboratory to study non-motor comorbidities of Parkinson's Disease. So far, she has co-authored 37 scientific publications (H-factor: 21), supervised 3 PhD theses, 12 master's theses and 15 bachelor's theses. She is also involved in dissemination, management and teaching. On two occasions she has received public recognition for her professional excellence in the Docentiaz teaching evaluation. She is a member of scientific societies and regularly attends research and teaching innovation congresses.
