In June 1978 I presented my BSc thesis at the University of Bilbao. In January of 1979 I started my relationship with the university with an FPI scholarship and later, I went to the J.J.Thompson Laboratory of the University of Reading under a British Council Grant where I did my Ph.D thesis work under the direction of Dr. J.N. Lomer on the properties and defects in bcc monocrystals (molybdenum). In 1984 I started my line of research in optical spectroscopy on crystalline solids with Professor J. Piqueras. Defects in ionic crystals (MgO, CaO, SrO) and later in high temperature superconductors (YBaCuO and BiSrCaCuO) and semiconductors such as GaP. In the field of semiconductors II-VI, I have been a principal research of several projects where the properties of compounds such as ZnTe, ZnSe and ZnO were studied, participating in the European SOXESS network that brought together 23 European laboratories around zinc oxide and related materials. Later, together with Professor F. Plazaola, we formed a consolidated research group (A group of the Basque university system IT-443-10 and IT-1005-16). At this moment I contribute to the group in the research field of positron annihilation lifetimes spectroscopy and magnetic hyperthermia
