Teaching Profile

I began my University teaching in 2010.  Currently, I teach two subjects in the Degree in Biology: Genetics, a compulsory subject, in Basque, and Genetic Engineering and Molecular Genetic Analysis, an elective subject, in Spanish. I supervise graduate student projects in the Degree in Biology and the Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as master student projects within the Master in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine. In addition, during the last years, I have assumed responsibilities related to academic management, as a member of various commissions of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the UPV/EHU.

Research Profile

I received my doctorate in 2006 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) with a work on the role of the Retinoblastoma/E2F pathway in the control of pancreatic and hematopoietic function. I completed my postdoctoral research activity (2006-2008) at the University of Southern California (USA), in the field of Methionine Metabolism and liver cancer, in the group led by Dr. Shelly C. Lu, with whom I continue maintaining a close collaboration. Since my reincorporation at the UPV / EHU, my research activity has been carried out in the research group led by Dr. Ana M. Zubiaga, making use of cell and animal genetic models to elucidate the role of key proteins in tumor suppression.
