PLAN-PLURILINGUISMO-Presentacion

Plurilingualism Plan

The Plurilingualism Plan was launched in the 2005-2006 academic year with the general objective of promoting the presence of foreign languages in our academic offer. The more specific objectives can be summarised in the following six:

  • Ensure the continuity to plurilingualism projects through which subjects are taught in English and French in secondary schools in the Basque Country.
  • Develop the students’ linguistic skills to facilitate their mobility within the European Higher Education Area.
  • Encourage conferences, symposia and other university activities in foreign languages. The plan aims to equip students linguistically so that they can better benefit from visiting professors and foreign publications.
  • Facilitate students’ entry into the workforce, as knowledge of foreign languages has become an added value.
  • Expand the range of courses offered to students who come to us through national and international exchange programmes. The availability of courses in foreign languages has become an undeniable attraction when it comes to attracting foreign students.
  • Promote internationalisation among faculty members to boost their professional development in both teaching and research.

This Plan will enable UPV/EHU students not only to learn English/French but also the specific language of each speciality. Additionally, it will facilitate their participation in international mobility programmes. Finally, it should be noted that the subjects studied in the Plan will be included in the academic curriculum.
