The main objective of our research group is the deepening in the study of the mechanisms of infectious diseases using omics methodologies. Our Research includes in depth knowledge of specific pathogens and diseases, along with a carefully selected sample and optimally developed model systems. Among the specific objectives, and in relation to the host-pathogen interactions, the following are addressed:
• Detection and characterization of genomic elements (genes and not-coding RNAs) involved in the immune response against infectious agents
• Metagenomics approaches to the relationship between host microbiota and infectious agents
• Immune response to vaccination and vaccine adjuvants by transcriptomic analysis.
These tests can provide information for the diagnosis of cervico-vaginal diseases in humans on the one hand, and allow the identification of regulatory elements and genes involved in the response immune system against virus in a model organism. Lastly, they can also provide information on the improvement of existing vaccines and for the design of new ones.
