El próximo jueves, 5 de febrero, tendremos a Andrej Kalaš (Comenius U. Bratislava) en el seminario abierto de filosofía. Su charla llevará por título "The Deterministic Conception of the Stoic Cosmos and the Freedom of the Stoic Sage"; abajo podéis encontrar un breve resumen de la misma. El seminario será a la una del mediodía, en la Sala de Juntas de la Facultad, y será en inglés.

The Deterministic Conception of the Stoic Cosmos and the Freedom of the Stoic Sage

The lecture will attempt to introduce the Stoic concept of a deterministic universe and the centrality of the Stoic sage in it, using selected parts of Stoic philosophy (physics of the elements, psychology, causality and hierarchization of causes). The basic line of our interpretation is to prove the thesis that the freedom of the sage is based on the autonomy of his manifestations justified by the sovereignly rational disposition of his soul.
