Research Program in Polymerization in Dispersed Media

The primary goal of this program is to work on processes and their influence on performance of products of industrial importance.

In the present economic situation (increasing raw materials prices, increasing competition, pressure on industrial margins, ...), better product performance, lower production costs and a good market image associated with  "green/odorless" products are requirements for successful companies. Strong emphasis is made in carrying out the research under industrially relevant conditions. Thus, most of the research is conducted using high solids latexes. The use of low solids content latexes is limited to the cases in which the information obtained is relevant for the production of high solids latexes. The specific research topics are described below. The description includes some background and previous achievements as well as future developments (in Italics).

The Scientific Committee is formed by the following academic members of the Polymerization Engineering and Simulation group:

Prof. José R. Leiza, Professor of Chemical Engineering

Prof. María Paulis, Professor of Chemical Engineering

Prof. Radmila Tomovska, IKERBASQUE Research Professor

Dr. Nicholas Ballard, IKERBASQUE Research Associate Professor

Dr. Miren Aguirre, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering

Dr. Edurne González, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

Dr. Aitor Barquero, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

Dr. Shaghayegh Hamzehlou, Ramon y Cajal Researcher

The research program addresses to these issues through the following topics:
