The 10th of March of 2020, Lorena Ruiz de Larrinaga defended her Last year degree project "Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG)" at the Faculty of Science and Technology (UPV/EHU) in Leioa.

Her work entitle: Development, characterisation and integration of modular microfluidic pumps in Point-of-Care (POC) devices based on polymeric materials. "Desarrollo, caracterización e integración de bombas microfluídicas modulares en dispositivos Point-of-Care (POC) basados en materiales poliméricos" was supervised by Yara Álvarez Braña, directed by Lourdes Basabe  and co-directed by Fernando Benito López.

It presents the design and manufacture of self-propelled polymeric microfluidic devices manufactured by 3D printing and PDMS molding. Three pumping strategies were presented:

(1) PDMS modular micropump.

(2) 3D modular micropump of flexible epoxy resin.

(3) finger-actuated pump.

Finally, the obtained self-propelled devices: the detection of starch and the determination of pH in sweat, with applications in the food industry and in the biosanitary sector, respectively, were evaluated.

CONGRATULATIONS LORENA!! It was a great to have you in the group, best of lack for the next step in your carreer!
