Biography

Vahid graduated from Mechanical Engineering in Iran and has done his master studies in Renewable Energies in Turkey. Afterwards because of his engineering background in fluid mechanics and interest in life sciences, he has been working on microfluidic devices fabrication and applications such as multiple emulsions and layer-by-layer formation of DNA-Cationic lipid complexes over the last two years at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, in Portugal.

Currently he has joined the Microfluidics Cluster research group at UPV/EHU in Spain under the European funded MaMi project.

Research

Vahid’s current research interest and work is about new approaches for applying magnetic field in microfluidic devices in order to obtain locally driven flow. In order to include magnetic functionalities into microfluidics systems, magnetic liquids and magnetic artificial cilia are being investigated. Magnetic liquids, ferrofluids, are studied to manipulate droplets in open microfluidics. On the other hand, magnetic artificial cilia are used to promote liquid manipulation in closed microfluidic systems.
