José Miguel de Barandiarán y Ayerbe
(Ataun, Guipúzcoa, 1889 - Ataun, Gipuzkoa, 1991)
He was a catholic priest, known as Joxemiel Barandiaran, who pioneered research on Basque anthropology, ethnology and archaeology. He was the author of a very large number of studies and is considered one of the "patriarchs of the Basque culture".
