Montse Maritxalar, computer science degree(1989) and phD in Computer Science (1999) for the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Teacher at the Computer Science Faculty of the UPV/EHU since 1989 at the Informatics Engineering Degree and some postgraduate studies: master in “Language Analysis and Processing” (organized by the IXA research group) and university-accredited postgraduate degree “ICT and Digital Competencies for Education” (co-organized between the UPV/EHU and the UEU). She was vice-dean at the Computer Science Faculty (2011-2014) and a member of the Committee of degree studies at the UPV/EHU (2013-2016).

Her work is focused on natural language processing, learning and educational resources. She has supervised or co-supervised 4 phD thesis (2 European), co-written more than 70 scientific publications and participated in more than 40 National or European research projects.

Nowadays, she is the Director for Students of the University of the Basque Country from 2017, member of the Basque Commission for ICT at the Basque Government since 2015, and a representative member of the Management Committee of the European Network for Combining Language Learning with Crowdsourcing Techniques cost action research network since 2016.
