Mónica Urízar was born in 1982. Received her MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU, Bilbao (Spain) in 2006. She presented her International Thesis entitled “Methodology to Enlarge the Workspace of Parallel Manipulators by means of Non-singular Transitions” in 2012, obtaining her PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Her Thesis received the Doctoral Extraordinary Award given by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).



During her Research career, she has attended numerous congresses in the field of robotics, machine and mechanism design, computational kinematics, etc. She has published 18 papers in indexed International Journals (all of them in the field of mechanical engineering and robotics), 6 papers in National Journals, 20 book chapters from International Congresses, and participated as a researcher in 8 R&D Projects financed in public calls. In addition, she has made two stays in Research Centers abroad, at the Universities of Innsbruck (Austria) and the RWTH of Aachen (Germany).



Currently, she works as associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering of Bilbao, University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU). She teaches undergraduate and master courses related to mechanical and biomedical engineering, mechanism and machine theory, mechanical vibrations, mechanism analysis and design.
