Mechanical Engineer (1987) and PhD in Mech Eng (1992). University Professor since 2002. Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the UPV / EHU since 2012.
He teaches subjects in the area of Engineering Mechanics and Theory of Structures in the Industrial Technologies Degree, Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and the Master's Degree in Aeronautical Technologies. He is Technical Director of the Aeronautical Classroom of the School of Engineering of Bilbao since 2001 and President of the Academic Committee of the Title Master in Aeronautical Technologies.
He has directed more than 160 Final Projects / Final Degree Projects. Tutor of more than 100 practices in companies of students of the School.
His publications and lines of research focus on the optimal design of structures and elements of machines (optimal design of size, shape and topology) and the simulation by Finite Elements of non-linear problems, with applications to manufacturing processes, optimization of elements of the aeronautical and railway industry, etc.
Belongs to the Consolidated Research Group (recognized by the Basque Government) Development of advanced optimization methods oriented to mechanical, structural and transport systems problems. Member of the European Research Network Railenium2020. He participates as representative of the University in the assembly of partners of the Basque Aerospace Cluster - HEGAN and in the management council of the Spanish Aerospace Technology Platform
