Charles Pinto received the Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering in Valenciennes (ENSIMEV), France in 1993, the D.E.A. in Mechanical Design from the University of Valenciennes (UVHC), France in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Bilbao, Spain in 2001.
Since 2017, he obtained the position of Full Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
From 2013 to 2021 he has been deputy director of International Relations at the Bilbao School of Engineering. And since March 2021, he is the Director of the Bilbao School of Engineering.
His research interests are Kinematics and Dynamics in Parallel Kinematics Machines, Prototyping and Design of Manipulators and Robots, Computational Mechanics and Numerical Analysis of Structural Problems via Finite Elements Method (FEM). and the application of computational methods to these problems. Additionnaly, from academic year 2008/09, he is one of the Faculties Advisor of the Project-Based Learning Formula Student Bizkaia. His lines of research have expanded to the field of Biomedical Engineering.
He is AEIM, STA, ASME and IEEE member, and member of the IFToMM Technical Committee for Computational Kinematics. In the field of International Relations, he is active member of the EAIE association.
