He began his university studies in 1992 at the ETS de Ingenieros Industriales y de Telecomunicación at Bilbao. When he graduated in 1998, he entered as a full-time adjunct professor in the Mechanical Engineering department of the same school to teach Mechanism and Machine Theory. In 2001 he defends the doctoral thesis, and after passing the national habilitation tests, he started his tenure track as associate professor 2007.
Since 2014, he has been accredited by ANECA as full Professor.
He currently teaches undergraduate degree in industrial technologies, as well as in the masters of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering in the field of mechanical design, where he has published several books.
Research interests include the mechanics of multibody systems, vibrations, tribology, fatigue and elements and mechanical components such as bearings, gears, ball joints and bolted joints, in sectors as different as wind power, OIL & GAS and dental implantology.
He is the head of the Research group Mechanical Anslysis and Design of the University of the Basque Country, directed 8 doctoral theses and published around 50 articles in research journals located in the top positions.
