Degree (1987) with Extraordinary Prize and doctor (1992) in Biology (specialty Biochemistry) by the UPV / EHU, where she has been lecturer (1996-1997) and Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science and Technology since 1999. Academic Secretary of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology during the period 2004-2014. She has directed or co-directed 7 doctoral theses. She has participated in 54 research projects, is co-author of 45 scientific articles, 2 international patents, 3 book chapters and about 80 contributions in international and national scientific congresses. She has 4 “sexenios” recognized by the CNEAI national agency.

She is an Ordinary Member of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) and regularly serves as an ad hoc evaluator for numerous international research journals (PloS Pathogens, PloS One, Sci Rep,) and several state research agencies (ANR, FonCyT, CZAC,).

Her research work began with the study of the interaction of detergent molecules with cancer cell membranes. Subsequently her research work has focused on the study of protein-membrane interactions, particularly in understanding the mechanism of action of virulence factors (protein toxins) secreted by pathogenic bacteria, which act at the level of the plasma membrane of host cells. Currently, her work focuses on studying the role played by the properties of these biological membranes in the infectivity of the adenylate cyclase t
