Started as an associate lecturer in Nutrition and Bromatology at the UPV/EHU in 1997, I became a lecturer in 2002.

Degree in Pharmacy (1994, best academic record award) and my doctoral thesis (defence 1998, extraordinary doctorate award) and initial research was devoted to the study of the mechanisms involved in overweight and obesity as well as the use of functional ingredients to treat obesity and associated pathologies.

Since 1998, and in parallel, I started a line of analysis of gluten in foods for the coeliac population (CD). In 2009, this laboratory, of which I am manager and technical director, implemented ISO17025. This line has grown with another dedicated to food safety in CD, which includes nutritional status assessment and nutritional education. I am the head of the GLUTEN3S research group.

As a result of my work, I have four six-yearly research assessment and one transfer assessment (1998-2012).

My teaching is included in the degrees of Pharmacy and Dietetics and Nutrition, in the Master of Nutrition and Health and in the Master of Ageing of UPV/EHU. I participate in the Master in Food Quality, Development and Innovation, University of Valladolid.

I have held various management positions: Director of Development and Quality of the Vice-Rectorate of the Alava Campus (2009-14) and Deputy Director for Quality Management of the Doctoral School (since 2017).
