A. Alegria received his physics diploma at the University of Navarra (Spain) in 1979 and his PhD degree at the University of the Basque Country (Spain) in 1984. Since 1994 AlegrÍa is full professor at the University of the Basque Country. In 1999 he became a member of the Material Physics Joint Center of the Spanish Scientific Research Council and the University of the Basque Country. Since 2000 he became Director of the Material Physics Department of the University of the Basque Country. At present, he is the academic responsible of the new doctoral program of the University of the Basque Country Physics of Nanostructures and Advanced Materials.
The research interest of A. Alegria is focused on the dynamics of soft-matter, particularly the molecular motions in polymer materials. The dielectric relaxation techniques are the main experimental tools used in this research. However, the basis of the methodology is the combination of dielectric relaxation methods with other complementary experimental techniques.
