Dr. Edurne Maiz is an senior lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology of the UPV/EHU. Her field of research has been linked to Psychology of eating due to her training in both Psychology and Dietetics and Nutrition. Her doctoral thesis focused on studying food neophobia and its relationship to the nutritional status and psychological well-being of children. She also participated in the EFIGRO project, where the effect of a multidisciplinary intervention program on the risk of diabetes in overweight children was studied. Subsequently, she worked in the R&D department of the Basque Culinary Center carrying out experiments focused on food neophobia and its relationship with the participation of children in the different steps of food (e.g., purchasing, cooking and food plating). Her research trajectory is reflected in several publications in indexed journals in JCR's first quartile and various contributions to congresses. She is currently part of the research group called Clinical and Health Psychology and she is the principal researcher of the MINECO project entitled “Effect of a group intervention program based on acceptance and mindfulness on the physical and emotional well-being of overweight and obese individuals”. This project opens a new line of research that encompasses the researcher's interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness, as well as in food behavior.
