Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry by the UPV/EHU (2003). After his Ph. D. he moved to Prof. Ben L. Feringa research group at the University of Groningen, working in the field of nanotechnology. In 2006 he moves back to the UPV/EHU, where he specializes in the field of organocatalysis. Fist, he compatibilizes a research grant by the Basque Country Goverment with a contract as assistant professor until 2007, when he is awarded with a Ramón y Cajal contract. After his Ramón y Cajal period, he stays in the Department of Orgainc Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UPV/EHU as permanent researcher and, since 2021 as an Associate Professor.
Regarding his research cereer, Javier Vicario has participated in mmore than 20 financed research projects, is co-author of more than 55 scientific publications in renowned international journals and more than 40 communications in many different national and international congresses with more than 3000 ciatations and a Hirsch index of 24 (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8976-0991).
