Biography

Irene Serrano graduated in Food Science and Technology at the University of Barcelona in 2019 and completed a master's degree in Chemical Sciences and Technologies at the University of Granada (UGR) in 2020. Her final projects focused on Analytical Chemistry, using advanced analytical platforms (such as LC-MS) for the characterisation and study of metabolites present in food. After completing her master's degree, she obtained a FPU grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and started her thesis in food metabolomics at the UGR, which she completed in 2024, obtaining a PhD in Chemistry.

Research

Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher at the `Materials + Technologies´ Group (GMT) at UPV/EHU. Her research activity focuses on the development and use of advanced manufacturing technologies for the protection of probiotics.
