Acquired skills

These are the main competences for which this degree will qualify you:

  • To acquire and apply knowledge around the fundaments, methodology, models and techniques in social work, with the aim being to analyse problematic situations, diagnose, plan, undertake and asses the practice of social work with individuals, families, groups and communities.
  • To boost the social responsibility of organisations and professional ethics, applying quality criteria and professional supervision protocols.
  • To develop a capacity for interaction, leadership and creativity that enables them to pre-empt and manage situations of risk and mediate in conflictive situations.
  • To develop the knowledge and techniques required for mentoring and supporting people in order to promote the effective fulfilment of their rights and obligations as citizens, creating the conditions for empowerment, the achievement of personal autonomy and a boost for community initiatives.
  • To develop the skills required for the pursuit of their professional duties, highlighting their critical-reflexive capability, as well as their ability for analysis, communication, interaction, teamwork and networking, introducing the inclusive perspectives of gender, interculturalism, rural living, etc.
  • To investigate and systemise the information provided by professional practice in order to innovate and improve professional strategies and advance in the development of the discipline of social work, driving the sharing and disclosure of the knowledge acquired.
  • To know how to design, implement and assess, projects, programmes, plans and social policies within the different levels, sectors and spheres of action, and thereby contributing to the development of social wellbeing.
  • To understand social resources and their legal framework as a key instrument in professional intervention, for the purpose of promoting a critical reflection that will allow formulating strategies for improving the organisation, management, supervision and coordination of public institutions, social agencies and companies.
  • To understand, comprehend and critically reflect upon the different phenomena, realities and problems existing and emerging in society with a view to developing skills for working with people, groups, organisations and communities.
  • To work with people and jointly assess their needs and circumstances, constituting the professional relationship itself within the main resource of Intervention.
