Ana Areitio Bertolín is full professor of the area of Applied Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU. She belongs to the Department of Applied Economics V. She teaches theoretical and practical subjects related to information and communication technologies in the Faculty of Economics and Business (UPV / EHU).

She has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Deusto (Bilbao) and a PhD in Economics from the Basque Country University (UPV / EHU) since 2003. In addition, throughout this period, and to this day, she has completed several courses of complementary training, among which include the obtaining of the title of Specialist in Information Systems and Technologies Management in Business from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Since its establishment, she is a member of the Computer Science Laboratory - Laboratorio de Informática Aplicada (LIA/IAL) of the UPV/EHU. And she is webmaster of the LIA/IAL site.

She mainly directs her research activity around two lines: information technologies applied to university education and the design of information systems and knowledge management.

She has participated in research projects framed in the aforementioned research lines. She has written several books. And currently she is a regular speaker at congresses and scientific conferences on the research lines already mentioned.
