1.GROUP INSURED

Those covered by this insurance policy are listed below:

  • Teaching and Research Staff (TRS).
  • Administrative and Service Staff (ASS).
  • Members of the governing and management boards.
  • Individuals who perform work on an honorary basis at the university, provided their activities are linked to teaching, research or collaboration.
  • Any other natural or legal person who, under contract or otherwise, performs any type of task or job on behalf of the university.

3. RISKS COVERED

SCHENGEN AREA CLAUSE: If the policy is intended for use in a country within the SCHENGEN area, the coverage will include any leisure trip made by the insured person to any other country in the Schengen area lasting up to 5 days.

  • Medical care for illness and/or accident abroad, up to €300,000.
  • Continuation of medical, pharmaceutical or hospitalisation expenses incurred in the insured person's country of residence, up to €3,000.
  • Emergency dental expenses abroad, up to €1,000.
  • Expenses incurred as a result of an extended stay due to illness and/or accident, up to €100/day, maximum 10 days.
  • Medical transport due to illness or accident, as well as transport of mortal remains to the deceased’s habitual place of residence (repatriation).
  • Travel expenses for a family member in the event of the insured person being hospitalised for more than 5 days due to illness or accident.
  • Living expenses for said family member, up to €100.00 per day, from the day the insured person is admitted to hospital as a result of illness or accident, provided the insured person must remain in hospital for more than 5 days.
  • Interpreter services in the event of illness or accident.
  • Replacement of the insured person due to repatriation or death.
  • Travel information service.
  • Conveyance of urgent messages.
  • Urgent shipment of medicines that are not available in the country to which the trip has been made.
  • Dispatch of a physician or medical team to the area.
  • Search and rescue, up to €20,000.
  • Theft of or damage to luggage, up to €1,500.
  • Delay of more than 4 hours in baggage delivery, up to €300.
  • Assistance with locating and shipping luggage.
  • Items left behind abroad: €120.00.
  • Travel delay exceeding 4 hours, necessary expenses incurred, up to €300.
  • Missed connections, up to €300.
  • Trip cancellation, up to €600.
  • Travel expenses for the insured person's early return to Spain due to the death or serious illness requiring hospitalisation of first or second-degree relatives.
  • Travel expenses for the insured person's early return to Spain due to a serious incident at their home or workplace. A serious incident is defined as a fire, water or gas leak, or any other event causing damage exceeding €3,000 to their property or neighbouring properties.
  • Private civil liability: up to € 1,000,000.
  • Legal defence guarantee for travel assistance, including legal assistance abroad with bail and procedural costs, claims for personal damages caused by third parties and criminal defence, with a limit of at least €25,000.

4. EXCLUSIONS

The following incidents are excluded from the policy:

  • Accidents or illnesses occurring prior to the start of the policy (this exclusion does not apply to the travel assistance guarantee abroad, in the event of what is deemed an emergency).
  • Any accident or illness intentionally caused by the insured person, suicide, self-inflicted injuries and myocardial infarction (this exclusion does not apply to the travel assistance guarantee abroad, in the event of what is deemed an emergency).
  • The playing of any sport in a professional capacity.
  • Declared or undeclared war, civil unrest, rebellion, kidnapping, martial law or quarantine and its declaration (this does not affect the coverage provided by the Consortium).
  • Earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions or hurricanes (this does not affect the coverage provided by the Consortium).
  • Radiation or the effects of nuclear energy.
  • Benefits that were not previously communicated to the insurance company and those for which the company's consent was not obtained, except in cases of duly proven material impossibility.
  • When the purpose of the trip is to receive medical treatment, unless it is duly proven by the insured person or their successors that the illness, accident or death (as appropriate) was not related in any way to the medical treatment prompting the trip.
  • Diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of pregnancy, voluntary termination of pregnancy or childbirth.
  • Rescue in mountains, caves, sea or desert.
  • Dental, ophthalmological and otorhinolaryngological treatments, except those deemed urgent.
  • Any other exclusion, provided it does not contravene the essence of the contract.

6. TAKING OUT A POLICY

The IBILI-BEREZI insurance policy is managed through the ASSETS SERVICE.

To take out an insurance policy, the insured person must provide the data required by the service:

  •  Name and surname(s) and National ID card number.
  •  Specific travel and duration dates.
  •  Point of departure and arrival.
  •  Activities to be carried out, since this insurance is only designed for those travelling for work-related reasons.
  •  How payment will be made (individually by the insured person or through a research department or group).

7. RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE TRAVELING AND DURING YOUR STAY

  • Make sure you have the certificate corresponding to the policy taken out.
  • Save the helpline number in your mobile phone.
  • In the event of an accident, call the helpline as soon as possible to ensure the quick and effective processing of your claim.
  • Share the number to call in the event of an accident with a family member or trusted friend so that they can call in the event of you being unable to report the incident.
