Dr. Nikolaos Politakos (Research Group: Polymerization Processes) Telephone + 34 943 018475 Electronic mail email@example.com Biografia Biografia Education Nikolaos Politakos finished the Materials Engineering studies in 2005 at the Polytechnic School of the University of Ioannina (UOI), Ioannina, Greece. In 2007, obtained the Master of "Chemistry and Technology of Materials", MSc from the Chemistry Faculty and the Materials Engineering Department. During these years, he worked in synthesis and characterization of polymers via anionic polymerization and polypeptides. He completed his PhD in 2010 in Materials Engineering in the University of Ioannina and his work involved the synthesis of copolymers via anionic polymerization of polydienes of different microstructures and polypeptides. Part of the PhD experimental work was done through stays in Oak Ridge National laboratory, in Tennessee and in Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, both in USA. He started his Postdoctoral research in 2010 in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) until 2014, working with chemical modifications of polymers and composites with fullerenes. From 2014-2017, he worked in CIC biomaGUNE, in San Sebastian, in the Basque Country, working in synthesis and characterization of responsive copolymer brushes from surfaces and particles for biomedical applications. Research During the PreDoctoral studies, his research focused on polymer synthesis and characterization via the anionic technique. In the PostDoctoral positions, his research focused in chemical modification reactions, preparation of composite materials and synthesis of responsive copolymer brushes from surfaces. His current research topics are focused in the preparation of 3D sponge like graphene oxide materials for CO2 capture and photocatalysis.
