Degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Biology of the University of Salamanca (1987). PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Alcalá (1990). Professor of Cellular Biology at the UPV/EHU, interim since 1991, holder since 1994. Full Professor of Histology at the UPV/EHU since 2007. He has taught in several subjects in the Bachelor's Degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, and later in the degrees in Biochemistry, Medicine and Dentistry. He has also taught doctoral courses and is responsible for a subject in the Master in Biomedical Research. He has published works on his teaching experiences, which he has also presented at congresses.
He has directed four doctoral theses, one of them with an extraordinary prize. He has published more than fifty articles in scientific journals indexed in the JCR, many of them in the first quartile of their categories. He has also presented numerous scientific communications in international congresses. He is a member of the editorial committee of the international journal Histology and Histopathology, indexed in the JCR, and has been a member of the scientific committee of several international congresses. He has been recognized four six-year terms by CNEAI.
He is currently director of the Department of Cell Biology and Histology, member of the Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing, of the Board of the Bizkaia Campus and of its Permanent Commission. He was Secretary of the Departmeof and member of the Governing Council of
