On-site Consultation

In those libraries that use the QR4services application, reserving reading seats through the app is optional

Most of the documentary collection of UPV/EHU can be freely consulted in our 13 libraries, which collectively have 4,105 reading seats and 553 computers. Additionally, for the use of materials excluded from loan (such as journals), the reading rooms are equipped with photocopiers and scanners that can be used in compliance with legal limits.

What Can I Consult in the Libraries?

  • Printed Materials: Mostly located on open shelves in the various university libraries. For materials located in closed stacks, you must contact the staff of the respective library. Some documents, such as printed theses, have restricted access. Use our catalogue to locate the materials you are interested in consulting.
  • Audiovisual Documents: VHS or DVD (available only in the Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia campus libraries).
  • Documents on CD-ROM and Microforms.
  • Online Electronic Resources: Accessible from computers in all our libraries, always requiring identification with an LDAP account.

Who Can Access On-site Consultation?

Access to UPV/EHU libraries is universal and free. However, during peak periods and when there is a shortage of reading seats, priority will be given to members of UPV/EHU.

  • Printed Materials: Open access for anyone.
  • Consultation of Resources Requiring the Use of Our Computers: Restricted to members of the UPV/EHU university community.
  • Access to Online Electronic Resources with Personal Devices (Laptops, Mobiles, or Tablets): Through the corporate WiFi network (Eduroam), also restricted to university members.

Regulations for the Reading Rooms

  • Maintain Silence: If you need to talk with your peers, use the group study rooms.
  • No Food or Drink: Except for water.
  • Mobile Phones: Must be kept on silent.
  • Books and Magazines: After use, should be placed on the carts or left on the tables, never on the shelves.
  • Handle Materials with Care: Do not underline, write in the books, or use permanent marks, etc.
  • Respect Staff Instructions: Always follow the guidance of the library personnel.
