General view
The department of Mathematics is involved in the research of all areas of knowledge of Mathematics (Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Topology, Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Operational Research). Besides, our activities concern fundamental and applied research, advice and training in statistics and development of R&D projects in mathematical modeling, optimization and operational research in collaboration with companies.
Some research lines are:
- Matrix analysis and linear control theory.
- Statistic applied to experimental and biosanitary sciences.
- Connections between probability theory and other areas of mathematics such as approximation theory, inequalities, number theory and combinatorics.
- Modeling and numerical simulations.
- Optimization and operational research.
