Researcher at the UPM Solar Energy Institute in 1981. Doctoral thesis on bifacial and polycrystalline silicon solar cells under the supervision of Antonio Luque, first time at world level that these devices have been manufactured based on multi-Si material. 1986 Technical Director of the Isofoton Company (spin-off of my R&D group at UPM and first Spanish company of PV becoming one of the 10 biggest of the world). 1989 Professor at UPV/EHU. Promoter and Director of the Automatic, Electronic and Telecommunication Department of the UPV/EHU (1990-95) at those time with 65 lecturers / professors. Award to the “Personaje TIC” (People of the year in Communication and Information Technologies) from the Basque Association of Telecommunication Engineers in their first edition (2006). 2003-2004 Head of the Photovoltaic Department of Spanish National Center of Renewable Energies, CENER.Promoter of the UPV/EHU semiconductor group and the Technological Institute of Microelectronics from the UPV/EHU. Director of this Institute in several periods. Promoter of several research infrastructures including 2 clean rooms dedicated to R&D in Photovoltaics.
Director in 57 approved proposals from competitive public calls, 15 of which belong to National R&D Plans and 7 from European Framework Programs. Total financing (to un-updated money) for the total targeted proposals: 7,300,000 €. 82 publications with a number of citations over 919.
