Born in Portugalete (Bizkaia) in 1962, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 1990. He is currently Professor in inorganic chemistry in the same institution. He is author of 155 scientific publications (h = 34) in the areas of materials science, inorganic chemistry and crystallography. He has presented more than 170 communications in national and international congresses. His scientific interest is focused on the chemistry of polyoxometalates, the structural and magnetic features of coordination compounds, the development of porous metal-organic materials, and the supramolecular self-assembly of discrete metal-organic entities. He is author of two International Patents (WO2014/122105, WO2017/186997), being the most recent licensed to and under exploitation by a technological startup created in 2017, Poretune S.L. He has participated in 30 R&D projects financed in competitive public calls, in four of these projects he has been the researcher in charge. Since 2018, he is member of the "Metal-Organic Materials" research group in the UPV/EHU, recognized as top A-level research group by the Basque Government. He teaches in the Degree of Chemistry, in the master of New Materials (UPV/EHU) as well as in many different postgraduate courses. He has directed six PhD theses and several final degree and master projects. ORCID: http://orcid.org/0000-0002-8827-0384
