Dr. Barandika was graduated in Chemistry (UPV/EHU, 1989), and received her PhD in Physics in 1995 (U. de Navarra). Since 1996, she works for UPV/EHU as a lecturer and researcher at the Organic and Inorganic Chemistry department (formerly, Inorganic Chemistry). She has been working in Materials Science focusing her work on machine tools materials, magnetic compounds, biomaterials, and MOFs. She has expertise in X-ray diffraction, crystal structure, microstructure, (SEM and TEM), magnetic properties, DFT calculations, topology, synthesis methods, pulvimetallurgy, catalysis, and adsorption and mechanical properties.
She has published over 100 scientific articles. She is the author of an international patent, and has supervised 5 PhD theses, and other research works like final degree and master projects. She has been participated in more than 25 research projects (including European, national, regional level projects). She has been the director of the UPV/EHU postgrade “Orthopaedics”, and an executive board member of the Spanish Association of Bioinorganics. She is an UPV/EHU Research Associate for BCMaterials.
She was a deputy director in the Faculty of Pharmacy, academic secretary of the Master of Doctoral School (MDe) of the UPV/EHU. Since 2019 she is the Head of the Doctoral School.
