Homestays

If you wish to immerse yourself more fully in our culture or prefer to live in a warmer, more family-like environment, you can enrol in the EHU's homestay programme.

When you fill out the form, we will contact you to show you what families are currently available in your city, and if any of them interest you, we will put you in touch with them so you can meet and agree on terms.

It is important to note that homestay accommodation is not necessarily the cheapest option, although the monthly rate usually includes meals. We recommend this type of accommodation for those who want a more immersive cultural experience and wish to participate in family life.

If you wish to participate in a cultural exchange experience and host an exchange student studying at the EHU in your home, the Homestay programme is perfect for you. The programme offers you the opportunity to meet students interested in immersing themselves in our culture and living in a family environment in the Basque Country.

The Homestay programme connects international and exchange students with families prepared to open their homes to them, supporting them as they prepare for their trip, helping them with administrative procedures as they settle in, introducing them to the local environment and Basque culture, including them in daily activities and helping them learn about local customs.

When you fill out the form, we will add the information you provide to our database of profiles. If any student expresses an interest in your family's profile, we will send you the student's profile, and if the interest is mutual, we will put you in touch. From then on, the EHU will offer recommendations regarding cohabitation, but the rental agreement and other details will be arranged directly between you and the student.
